When it comes to antipsychiatry, Giorgio Antonucci is the living example of who dared opposing in the front line psychiatric cruelty, and at same time give back hope and dignity to those who have suffered under psychiatry. If there has to be an heir of Franco Basaglia it’s indeed — and by due right — Giorgio Antonucci!

Giorgio’s testimonies, when he recounts the liberation of psychiatric hostages from the asylums which he freed, are stories which call to memory scenes of the Holocaust, inducing to tear by the sufferance which is still alive in him — bacause Giorgio Antonucci, without cynical detachment, plunged himself into that sufferance, absorbing it and making it his own.

Giorgio Antonucci has been persecuted by psychiatry, censored, slandered, and many times brought to trial. He is the living testimony of the atrocious peace-crimes perpetuated by psychiatry in Italy, and of the falsehood of the fake reformers that enrich themselves hailing democracy by slogans behind which there is no practical action endorsing their bureaucrats chatter.

Giorgio: a noble and courageous soul, a sweet and welcoming temper, an exquisite person and an intellectual who is irreducibly in love for freedom.

I want to thank Giorgio for having sustained the battles of my father when I was imprisoned in prsychiatric jail, and for having sustained my battles when I reconquered freedom; but most of all I want to thank him for the sincere friendship that he offered me and for the human warmth that he transmitted me.
